INFORMATION ABOUT OUR GERMAN LANGUAGE COURSES

General Information

Zentrum für Deutsch is a private Institution for cultivating a high level of German language teaching through modern and advanced teaching methods and techniques. Instruction materials and lessons are brought into line with proficiency expectations from the side of German universities, prospective employers or your own anticipation towards a well reputed language institute. Our course evaluation is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
** (Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen), since the Framework has become a key reference and valuable tool for educational and professional purposes.

We use a variety of practice and working methods. Since members of language classes aim to speak the language, the language of instruction will be German (as far as possible) – from day one.

All our teachers have a university qualification and a special training for teaching German as a foreign language. Most of our language instructors are German native speakers.

Our goal is to provide you with excellent pronunciation, reading, writing and grammar and communication skills.

LEARNING PROGRESS AND EXAMS

All together there are about 400 Teaching Units (TU) for the elementary levels. If you start without having any previous knowledge of German at all, you will learn quite soon, how to make yourself understood in everyday situations, how to read simple texts and how to discuss topics in writing as well as verbally. The further you continue the easier you will find it to communicate all your needs and express yourself.

Your language skills will be evaluated continuously during the course and with a final exam at the end of each single level. That way you will get an insight into your progress.

We consider classroom performance almost equally important as test-performance.

At the end of the course you will obtain a certificate stating your course evaluation for the attended level or a poof of attendance.

After having finished the elementary stage, you have already achieved most of what is regarded as a basic requirement for i.e. studying in a German speaking country. Most German universities expect you to be proficient in the language. The better you have finished this stage, the easier you will find it to “complete” your studies. It will not only save you time.

To be able to “speak like the Germans do” and to master the University-Language-Proficiency-Test requires intermediate levels. Depending on your performance in the elementary stage, this takes up to 400 TU. In the intermediate classes, you will learn how to express yourself confidently verbally and in writing. You will learn how to deal with scientific texts, understand most newspaper-articles and you will be able to participate in almost every conversation.

Once you successfully finished these levels, you can proceed with one of the University-Language- Proficiency-Tests, which will give you unrestricted admission to a German university.

We recommend , a very well established Language-Proficiency-Test; having been developed and promoted mostly on behalf of the German Academic Exchange service (
DAAD) and recognized by all German universities. It is possible to participate in this test in Egypt (Goethe-Institut Kairo) or at a German university.

How to participate

Depending on your previous knowledge, you will be placed into a suitable group. We will find out the optimal learning group through a written assessment test and in an interview. This will determine the right level for you. Please arrange an appointment for the placement test by phone.

CHOOSING THE COURSE TYPE

Before joining a course, you should consider how much time you can afford for your classes, as language classes require steady revision to get the most out of it. If you need to improve your career chances or do business with Companies were German is spoken, sure less intensive classes will do.

If you “have to take German” because an institution requires this, it would be a good idea to start in time and make yourself ready for semi-intensive classes.

If you have plans to travel soon to a German speaking country, intensive classes would definitely be the right choice.
